about
Castform is the closing track from Marble Garden's debut album, released on January 17, 2009 and out of print since mid-2010. The song is based around a drum beat in 11/8 composed by drummer Scott Krieger, with additional parts added by all members of the band. This track features an 18 year old Angelo Santelli on slide and lead guitar. The song has been available for online streaming in an edited form since 2010.
The piece has three parts: the first with the distinctive drum beat and blues-rock riff where the main vocals are sung, the second which goes to a slow 12/8 progression with wordless vocals reminiscent of early Pink Floyd and a slow-burning-to-scorching slide guitar solo. The third part moves to an upbeat groove in 6/8 time with guitar harmonies and melodies similar to what one would hear from the Allman Brothers Band, which leads to the finale of the piece.
This track has also gone by the title "Cast Form".
lyrics
Atomic graves lay waste to the putrefied remaining face
Frozen ice clouds plummeting; Earthbound
Plastic monoliths high above radiate toxic sludge
Morphing marbled figurines becoming cities crystalline
And it takes all night and day baby
But I think its safe to say baby
Universal truths melt away, surrealistic reality
Embryonic gloom; cast-form robotic doom
Illusions lead the shepherd-less, while Nero fiddles away
Lachesis decides the stay, while the Earth turns away
And it takes all night and day baby
But I think its safe to say baby

Angelo Santelli is a Florida guitarist notable for his slide and lead guitar sounds. Nicknamed by Michael Allman "Skypup"
after his uncle Duane "Skydog" Allman, Santelli's music infuses the incendiary influence of Duane Allman and Derek Trucks style blues guitar with psychedelic and progressive rock elements echoing Pink Floyd and the Mahavishnu Orchestra....more
Cerebral palsy curbed his ability to play guitar the conventional way, so Nagoda learned double slide, this is his debut LP.
