Dire Need is an unreleased song from Marble Garden, commonly played live from 2011 until 2013. A live version from a radio performance at Kalamazoo, MI's WIDR studios in September 2012 received occasional local airplay over the past couple of years.

The first officially released version of this song is a combination of the live version from WIDR and two additional parts recorded in the studio in early 2011. The combination of live and studio takes is an idea taken from the early Grateful Dead album "Anthem of the Sun".

The first part is an upbeat rock piece with vocals by Nicholas L. Horn and a slide guitar solo from Angelo Santelli. The second part is an instrumental reggae section with a dobro solo by Angelo Santelli. The third part which was not commonly played live after mid-2011 is a Latin groove with a guitar solo by Nicholas L. Horn.
